Child Sponsorship Program
The Island Memorial Student Sponsorship Program offers a means for private Christian education to children who are unable to attend local public schools because of overcrowded classrooms. Several churches in the area operate private schools to alleviate the educational challenges faced in Ebeye. We collaborate with Island Memorial Chapel on Kwajalein and engage with many Christ-centered schools, placing students in these institutions and providing them with tuition scholarships.
The criteria each student must meet to qualify are as follows:
-
Parents or guardians qualify based on financial constraints, such as being a widow or widower, a single parent, or unemployed.
-
The child must express a desire to attend school, as not all children wish to go, and attendance is not mandatory.

The Goal
The goal is to seek out sponsors to help Marshallese parents pay for their child’s school fees. This support will enable children to learn in a Christian educational setting, fostering both their academic and spiritual growth. We aim to positively influence the lives of these children by connecting them with sponsors who can provide encouragement and build relationships with the Marshallese churches. Each school is staffed by missionary teachers and principals from around the globe. We encourage sponsors to take on a mentorship role and actively engage with their sponsored students.

The Accountability
Each school principal will ensure accountability by providing updates on the student's grades, attendance, and classroom participation upon request. School fees can be paid on a monthly, quarterly, or full payment basis. Before requesting scholarships, each principal verifies the financial needs of the students' parents.

The School Fees
School fees vary based on the student's grade and the school they attend, typically ranging from $500 to $750 per student for the academic year.

Kwajalein Island Memorial Chapel
The Kwajalein Island Memorial Chapel serves as a multi-denominational church located on Kwajalein Island. Shortly after our arrival in 2015, we learned about a program at the military base's Chapel that provided financial support for school-aged children on Ebeye. This initiative was built on a solid foundation and genuine care for the kids. Through our partnership with IMC, we have fostered local connections with schools and students, ensuring that current and prospective donors are effectively linked with school-aged children.
100% of the donated funds go directly to the student's educational fees at the private Christian School the attend.
